30/11/06
Dear Southland Sea Kayakers
I have organised the following skills course
Sea Kayaking Skills Day at Riverton - Sunday 10 December
The following is the programme for the Sea Kayaking Skills Day at Riverton set down for Sunday 10th of December
Meet at the Riverton Pool at 10AM on Sunday morning. The pool is about half way down the main street in Riverton (before the bridge) and is signposted to a street on the left. Please clean your kayaks before you arrive as wet washing often does not get rid of sand from cockpits which should be vacuumed out when dry. The pool is available from 10.30 AM and we have it booked for 2 hours. The cost is approximately $40.00 to hire which will be divided among participants.
We will practice the following skills:
Wet exit for novices
Assisted and self rescues
Rolling and Eskimo bow rescue
From 12.30-1.30 we will have lunch at Jacqui and Tim Andersons house at 3 James St., Riverton. Please bring a plate and some soft drink.
From 1.30 PM we will head down to Taramea Bay and practice surf launching, landing and rolling, rescue.
Please register your interest by emailing me or you can phone 03-2157263.
The only cost is the pool hire which will be shared around the participants.
High Tide is 5.55 AM and 6.16 PM
Low Tide is 11.46 AM and 12.07 PM
What to bring:
Sea kayak, spray skirts, paddle, paddle leash, PFD, paddle float, thermal clothes, paddle jacket, helmet, wet suit or dry suit, flares, tow rope, dry bags, sun screen, sun glasses, drink and food.
See you there
Stanley
