Sea Kayaking Northern Patagonia Fiords
SEA KAYAKING NORTHERN PATAGONIA FIORDS
Chiloe Fiords and Pumalin Park - CHILE
Level: Beginners/Intermediate
Dates: October 2004 till April 2005
Southwards from Puerto Montt, Chile breaks up into countless islands, with deep fjords that allow the sea to touch the Andes. Cutting deeply into the granite peaks of the coastal Andes, the Quintupeu, Cahuelmo and Comau Fjords provide the most spectacular and accessible paddling experience in Northern Patagonia.
Numerous hot springs, sea lions and dolphins colonies, lush temperate rainforest and hundreds of cascading waterfalls form the background for these highly recommended trips in which participants are given the unique opportunity to explore the fascinating and otherwise inaccessible estuaries
at the end of the fjords.
Tidal variations exceeding seven meters , the abruptness of the landscape and the intensity of the local climate make careful trip planning essential in this area. .....an unique piece of untouched land where native rainforest will be hanging over our heads. An unforgettable adventure and a fascinating cultural experience on the eastern side of the Gulf of Ancud.
Note: The only way to access these places is by water.
What we offer ?
An intense cultural experince and a self-supported sea kayak trip that combines true adventure, safety, freedom and challenge in a remote setting like the Northern Patagonia Fiords.
The trip has been planned with the consideration of those without previous experience. Before we begin our great trip, on Day 2 we will have a complete discussion and practice session covering rescue techniques and paddling manoeuvres so that our participants feel more comfortable during the trip and can really enjoy the beautiful views that they encounter. Our 2nd day will be developed paddling in a protected area... with a destiny of soothing hot springs.
